Open doors + special guest: Meeusontwerpt
De Monsterkamer hosts an Open Doors + Special Guest every first Thursday of the month. For the next event on 1st October we invited the twin sisters Janna Meeus and Hilde Meeus. They work together since 2008 as graphic designers as Meeusontwerpt.
- Date: 01/10/2015
- Time: 17:00 - 20:00
- Location: De Monsterkamer
- Speakers: Janna Meeus, Hilde Meeus
- Costs: Free
They share a studio opposite the Artis Zoo in Amsterdam. In their work they combine an interest in poetry, journalism, science and typography. Their work involves making books, websites and identities – often in relation to one another. During the Open Doors Janna and Hilde will talk about their fascination with perforations, the ziz-zag fold and simultaneous design for paper and screen. A special feature will be their recent release ‘LETTERRUPS’, a self published game.
Janna Meeus (1980) studied graphic design at the St. Joost Academy in Breda and the Werkplaats Typografie in Arnhem. Her film ‘Touching Graphic Design’ deals with 12 different independent designers.
Hilde Meeus (1980) studied Dutch literature at the University of Groningen and graphic design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. She has organized events in the literary center Perdu about nonexistent books, short stories and ritual language.
Janna and Hilde Meeus have worked in collaboration with artist Jennifer Tee, the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht, publisher Valiz, the Hogeschool Amsterdam, Andriesse-Eyck gallery and publisher Parrhesia.
The activities program of De Monsterkamer is supported by Creative Industries Fund NL.
