Every first Thursday of the month De Monsterkamer organises an Open Doors + special guest event. This time we invited Delphine Bedel.

Delphine Bedel works as photographer, curator and publisher, specialised in emerging publishing practice in photography, art and design. She is creative director of Monospace Press and PhD Researcher at Leiden University/PhDArts. During the Inloop at De Monsterkamer, she will present her publishing studio Monospace Press and introduce her research project ‘The Networked Book – Publishing as Artistic Practice’. A selection of 50 artists and photo books will be on display for the first time, showing an overview of her editorial work with photographers, artists and designers. The exhibited books show a variety of applications of paper, cutting-edge binding and printing techniques.

Delphine Bedel regularly contributes to exhibition catalogues and she is a frequent speaker at international conferences and seminars: Centre Pompidou Paris, Pro-Helvetia Zurich, Chelsea College of Art and Design London, De Appel, e.a. She co- founded the Amsterdam Art/Book Fair in 2011.

In 2009, she founded Monospace Press, a publishing studio focused on publishing innovative and cutting-edge photography and graphic design projects. Monospace Press activities range from editorial consulting, custom publishing, education and research projects and curating lectures series, workshops and events. The 60 award winning editions are part of museum and private collections and exhibited internationally. Delphine Bedel taught on publishing at the Geneva University of Art and Design/MFA (Visiting Professor 2009-2012), Dutch Art Institute/ArTEZ (2009-2011) and Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam (2013). She is author of ‘All that is Solid Melts into Air – Notes on Tourism’ (2008).
