Open doors + special guest: Roosje Klap

Every first Thursday of the month De Monsterkamer organizes an Open doors + special guest event. This time we invited Roosje Klap.

  • Date: 05/06/2014
  • Time: 17:00 - 20:00
  • Location: De Monsterkamer
  • Speaker: Roosje Klap

Roosje Klap (1973, Amsterdam) is a studio for visual communication, mainly graphic design and typography. Roosje Klap founded the studio after graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. The studio researches the experimental boundaries of custom fit design, collaborative yet peculiar. Don’t be surprised when Roosje Klap creates an unreadable font, when a book turns out to be a sculpture or when you are invited to contribute to a postage stamp: she has a strong affection for unorthodox graphic design. Solving the mystery of an unanswered question is what drives Roosje Klap.

Many of her projects are developed in close cooperation with specialists from different cultural backgrounds, including artists, curators, architects, designers and writers. The research based interdisciplinary design enables Roosje Klap to explore the boundaries of graphic design and find new types of communication. This makes her one of the representatives of a generation of graphic designers who not only work commissioned, but who also initiate and develop their own projects.
